"Sur Vagabond, je prépare la fête de Noël avec papa et maman. J’ai demandé aux chiens de japper dès qu’ils verront le père Noël passer, comme ça je pourrais peut être le voir. J’ai de la chance car il habite sûrement tout près d’ici. Nous avons décoré le bateau et comme il n’y a pas d’arbre au Spitsberg, nous en avons fabriqué un en carton et France et Eric nous ont laissé des guirlandes. Nous allons préparer un bon repas et faire un gros gâteau au chocolat. Ici, il y a beaucoup de neige, le bateau est toujours pris dans la glace et je vais avec papa et maman sur la banquise pour mesurer l’épaisseur de la neige et de la glace. Maintenant je sais écrire toutes les lettres de l’alphabet et je peux lire un peu les mots. J’écris aussi aux copains de ma classe avec maman. Je suis très content d’être ici et de faire tant de choses. Joyeux Noël à tout le monde !!!" Nael (5 ans)

"A very special Christmas. On Vagabond, I am preparing Christmas’s day with dad and mum. I have asked to the dogs to yap as soon as they will see Father Christmas, like that, I perhaps could see him. I am lucky because his house must be close by. We have decorated inside, and because there isn’t any tree in Spitsbergen, we have made a cardboard one, and France and Eric let us some tinsels. We are going to prepare a good meal and to make a big chocolate cake. There’s a lot of snow here, the boat is still in the ice and I go with dad and mum on pack ice to measure the thickness of the snow and ice. Now I can write all the letters from the alphabet and I can read some words. I also write to my school friends with mum. I am very happy to be here and to do so many things. Happy Christmas to everybody!!!" Nael (5 years old)
